Dennis Giokas
Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer for Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and head of the Solutions Products and Services group Mr. Giokas is responsible for overall electronic health record (EHR) business and technical solution architecture, as well as the health IT standards agenda. This entails integrating and harmonizing the architecture, privacy and security, and standards activities for greater coordination and collaboration on products and services delivery. It also entails increasing the emphasis on the implementation and client-focused service support of EHR solutions.
Mr. Giokas has nearly three decades of experience in the information management and information technology field, having held positions at Sapient Corporation, notably as Vice-President and Managing Director of its Canadian subsidiary. He has held senior positions with Digital Equipment Corporation, including those of Consulting Engineer and Group Technical Director. And he has consulted on IT strategy in a number of industries including health care, financial services, insurance and energy services.
Mr. Giokas has served as a board director of COACH – Canada’s health informatics association. He is currently on the Board of Stewards for Open Health Tools Inc. and is a Director on the HL7 Inc. Board. He holds two patents for software innovations and has one industrial design patent. Mr. Giokas holds a Master’s of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and was working on his Ph.D. in Music Theory when he became interested in computer science. He has a Master of Science in Computer Science degree from Boston University.
